Ghostwritten, David Mitchell
Am I too drunk to write a book review? Only one way to find out.
I have an enormous crush on David Mitchell. The kind of crush where every time I read a fantastic phrase in his book I go “Damn that’s good” and flip to the author photo, just to gaze in admiration at him for a sec.
When I finished Ghostwritten I had almost no way to describe what had just happened. The only plausible course of action was to start over immediately (and sure enough, the beginning of the book picks up right where the end leaves off). This is something I love about David Mitchell. I was in suspense all along; I couldn’t QUITE figure out how all the characters fit together, and occasionally lines or images would repeat themselves and not remembering where exactly I’d heard them before drove me CRAZY, but I was just having so much fun on every page that I didn’t even care.
This is why I have a crush on David Mitchell.
